I might not be the first one writing about the brighter site of Freelancing but there are a lot of freelancers working around the world who have written this post somewhere in their freelancing journey. Certainly, everyone has a different opinion and everyone looks at the same thing from a different perspective. In one of my recent posts, Hello World, I highlighted that I am going to talk about a few of my experiences. I thought of coming up with an explanation to the overall idea of freelancing at the first place.

The Brighter Side of Freelancing

It was a few months back when I delivered a talk on “Successful Freelancing” to an audience of students from University of Education Lahore. The best part about Freelancing, and the one that I love the most is that I am my own boss here. I have my own work schedules and the hours of work are EXTREMELY FLEXIBLE. I can work for one night if I want and then continue to enjoy my life for the next three days at the maximum. I have no one ruling me and I don’t have strict deadlines to meet.

You have complete authority over the way you work and you can certainly setup delivery dates that your client is comfortable with. All you need to make sure is that your client is not in a hurry. In case, he sounds to be in a hurry, I would recommend that you take up the job only if you think you can get it done within the available time frame. Else, simply refuse to the job stating the exact reason why you cannot get it done. I have personally experiences that most of the clients in the western part of the world are comfortable with straight-forward people. I have another idea for a post relevant to buyers in the subcontinent that I will be writing anytime soon to define the way they work with you.

Moving on to the brighter side of freelancing, you don’t have an office means you’re free to work ANYWHERE that you want. In your bed, on the couch, on the dining table, in the lawn, etc. The life is all yours and you have the liberty to move around and still work. People would certainly assume that you’re just messing around with your computing machine still referring it as work but I don’t think people around you need to know a lot about what you’re doing. We will certainly have another post on the darker side of freelancing; this would be more of a funny post as I don’t see any darker side of freelancing.

Putting things straight, Freelancing is a life that I have loved through the years that I have been involved in and it certainly is a life everyone wants. Work, get paid and spend without having too much of pain. This is the Brighter Side of Freelancing!
